2011 Regional Tournament 10-7-11

Ann Arbor PIoneer High School/Saline High School will be the host for the Regional Tournament this Friday, October 7. The players will be driven to the tournament by Plymouth/Canton school bus which will leave from the Phase 3 building at 7am.

One bus will transport all three schools’ varsity players. The bus will be bringing the players back to PCEP after the tournament.

2,3,4 singles will be playing at Saline HS. Everyone else will play at Pioneer HS.

Each player should bring water and food. If anyone wishes to volunteer to bring something, please contact Coach Kimball.

Conference schedule Saturday Oct. 1

This Saturday is the Conference matches at Novi High School. Players will need to get rides with a parent both ways. They can also ride with someone else if that parent has supplied a copy of their driver’s license and insurance.

The team should meet at Novi HS at 7:30am. Some of the players will be sent to Novi Middle School to play. Play is expected to begin at 8am. It is single elimination and it’s possible that some players will be eliminated early. The team is expected to stay until all teammates are eliminated; only then will the team leave.

Since we will be spread across two sites, players should bring plenty of food/drinks.

Plymouth Boys Tennis team tied Dexter Boys Tennis for 2nd place at the Dexter Tournament on September 17. To “settle this score”, Plymouth has challenged Dexter to play on October 4 at the Plymouth HS courts.

Match update for September 20, 21, 22

Today’s match is away at Grand Blanc. There will be bus service both ways. Varsity only, as Grand Blanc will be sending their JV here today.

Tomorrow is the Franklin makeup match, away, varsity only. JV will stay home. The bus will drive to the match, but players will need a parent ride home from the match.

The match Thursday September 22 is against Walled Lake Central at home.

September 19 match rescheduled

Today’s match against Livonia Franklin has be postponed due to the rain; it is rescheduled for Thursday, September 29 at the Plymouth HS courts.

Schedule Updates and Pictures

After a rainy week, we have the following schedule changes:

The Franklin match, Away, is rescheduled for 9/21.

The Wayne match, Home, is rescheduled for 9/19.

The Wildcat Invite, like all Invitational’s, can not be rescheduled.

Team pictures are this Wednesday, 9/14 @ 3:00pm, practice will follow. Order envelopes will be handed out on Mon or Tue.

The Dexter Tournament is this Saturday. Players (Varsity Only) must be at Dexter High School by 7:40am. We need parent volunteers to set up a nice lunch for this day for 14 people. (Keep receipts to be reimbursed by the booster club account).

A new JV tournament is now added for 9/24, home, details to follow.

Season Update

The season schedule and team roster were distributed to the players this week at practice.

New this year : There will be NO return bus ride after a weekday match. Players must be picked up by their parents or ride with another parent if that parent has their driver’s license and car insurance information on file with Coach Kimball.

Tournament play: Currently there is no bus service to away tournaments; players must ride with their own parent, or with another parent whose driver’s license and car insurance information is on file with Coach Kimball.

Tennis Camps

Coach Eric Batell is holding summer tennis camps at the high school courts this summer through Plymouth/Canton community education. There are two camps: Beginner’s Camp and Intermediate/Advanced Camp. The schedule for the camps remaining this summer are:

Beginner’s Camp 1: July 5, 6, 7, 12, 13,14 from 12 – 1:30
Beginner’s Camp 2: July 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28 from 12 – 1:30
Inter/Adv Camp 1: July 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14 from 1:30 – 3
Inter/Adv Camp 2: July 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28 from 1:30 -3

2011 Fall Season Information

Fall 2011 Boys Tennis season begins at PHS courts August 10-12, 10a.m. until approx. noon.

All team members must SUBMIT ON AUGUST 10, a sports physical (dated after April 15, 2011) NO EXCEPTIONS.

PCCS Pay to Play fee will be approx. $230.

Additional forms will be provided on Aug. 10 and are required to be completed by Aug. 11, 2011.

The Huron Valley Tennis camp is scheduled for the week of Aug. 15, 2011 from 12:30p – 3p each day. Team members must pre-register by calling 662-5514 to allocate the proper number of pros required.

Week of Aug. 22: practice Mon-Wed from 10a-noon; Thursday will be a home match with Brighton HS at 10a.m. Friday Aug.26 is a varsity only tournament in Monroe.

Week of Aug. 29: Monday – practice from 10-noon, Tuesday – home match against Livonia Churchill at 3p, Wednesday – varsity only tournament at Northville, Thursday - match against Canton 3p, Friday – no practice for Labor Day.
