The season schedule and team roster were distributed to the players this week at practice.

New this year : There will be NO return bus ride after a weekday match. Players must be picked up by their parents or ride with another parent if that parent has their driver’s license and car insurance information on file with Coach Kimball.

Tournament play: Currently there is no bus service to away tournaments; players must ride with their own parent, or with another parent whose driver’s license and car insurance information is on file with Coach Kimball.

Pay-to-Participate fee is $230 for the 1st sport. Payment is accepted at the athletic office and online with PaySchool. Refer to the athletics website (pcep.pccs.k12.mi.us/athletics) for additional information.

Team pictures are scheduled for this Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 2:45pm in the PHS gym. Order envelopes will be handed out today at practice.

Players: be sure to bring a clean uniform to school to wear for team pictures. You can change into your uniform after school.

Booster Club

The Booster Club plans, organizes, and budgets for events and activities for the team. All parents of team members are automatically members of the Booster Club. Each year a Booster Club fee is paid by each member to support the team activities.

Don’t forget to attend the parents meeting tonight from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in Coach Kimball’s room #704 in Plymouth High School.

It’s your opportunity to meet the coach, players, and get involved by volunteering to sign up for team activities. Many hands make light work for everyone!

Room #704 is across from the west side of the Plymouth High School gym. Park by the Plymouth Athletics entrance, which is near the back of the school.

Bring your checkbook to pay the booster club fee, if the fee hasn’t been paid yet.

The Plymouth-Canton Community School district has a pay to participate plan for athletes on sports teams. Athletes are required to pay a fee to participate on an athletic team during each school year.

For 2009-2010 the fee is:

$180 for the 1st sport
$100 for the 2nd sport
$0 for the 3rd sport

If an athlete qualifies for free or reduced lunch, the participation fee can be waived after verification with the athletic department.

Payment can be made at the Plymouth High School athletic office and online at PaySchool. If paying by check, make checks payable to “PCCS” and include the student athlete’s name and sport on the check. Payment is due August 26, 2009.

For new members and their parents, the team uses a Google Group mailing list to send team announcements and news. Email addresses of all team members who provided their info to Coach Kimball have been added to the Google Group mail list, along with email addresses of parents who contacted me (Ms. Edwards-Onoro).

Unfortunately, there may be a delay for new Google Group members. Google Groups is very careful of spam. Since I added more than 10 email addresses, Google has to approve the new email addresses for the list.

If you havenâ€™t signed up for the mailing list, add your email address this week to keep updated on activities and news. Announcements are usually sent once a week, but may be sent more often.

Our Google Group is private; membership is by invitation only. We’ll post documents and information for the team on Google Groups. Messages and documents for our group can only be accessed by members of the Plymouth Wildcats Boys Tennis Google Group.

You don’t need to have a Google account to be a member of the Google Group mailing list, but you will need a free Google account to access the documents and messages online at the Google Group.

Team manual update

The team manual has been updated, and the new version has been posted to the team Google Group.

Team photos will be taken after school at 2:30pm in the Plymouth High School gym on Thursday, September 11. All team members should meet at Coach Kimball’s classroom after school, in team uniform. Coach Kimball will pass out order forms to the team members this week. Bring a check to pay for the individual or group photo package.

Updated schedule, roster and team manual

The team schedule has been updated with the Skyline High School home match on Friday, September 5, and the junior varsity tournament on Saturday, September 27. Hosted by Canton High School, the JV tournament will be held at the Park courts.

The team members for 2008-09 have been added to the website roster page. The team member list is also available on our Google Groups site. Once I receive the breakdown on varsity and junior varsity players from Coach Kimball, I’ll update the roster on the website.

For those parents who weren’t able to attend the parents meeting this week, the updated team manual is available for download in the files section on the team’s Google Group site.
